Arsenal produced an impressive second-half comeback to rescue a point against London rivals Chelsea on Saturday.
The Blues moved into a surprise 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge courtesy of goals from Cole Palmer and Mykhaylo Mudryk, before goalkeeper Robert Sanchez gifted Declan Rice a goal.
The visitors drew level minutes later when Leandro Trossard converted an Eddie Nketiah cross, much to the frustration of Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Following the draw, the Gunners sit second in the top flight table but could drop down to third if North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur beat Fulham on Monday evening.
In the meantime, it appears that Arsenal could reignite their interest in a Premier League midfielder.
As per 90min, the North London outfit remain interested in Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz and could make a move for him in January.
The report claims that Arsenal had three offers for the central midfielder rejected last year, but that both Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar are both huge admirers of the Brazilian.
Luiz joined the Villans from Manchester City in 2019 and has since made 165 appearances for the club across all competitions.
He has scored 18 goals and provided 14 assists, and has been particularly impressive in the early weeks of the current campaign.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals in four home Premier League matches so far this term, and it appears that his fine form has attracted the interest of long-term admirers Arsenal.
The Brazil international has played an integral role for Unai Emery so far this season, helping the Villans to fifth place in the table after nine league games.
It is also claimed that Arsenal are assessing potential options across Europe and North America as they look for midfield reinforcements.
Arteta will be keen to bolster his squad during the mid-season transfer window as they look to go one better than last season, when they finished second behind City.
