Atletico Madrid host Borussia Dortmund tonight in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.
The Spanish giants overcame last year’s finalists, Inter Milan, in a penalty shootout in the last round after a 2-1 win in the second leg salvaged the tie.

Diego Simeone’s men trailed Inter 2-0 on aggregate but pulled off a fine comeback to set up this mouthwatering encounter.
Their opponents haven’t been great domestically, but they topped the so-called group of death in the Champions League and comfortably saw off PSV to reach this stage.
Plus, Edin Terzic’s side will play the second leg at home in front of 81,000 fans.
But the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium is also a fierce place to play football, and the hosts will be looking to feed off that energy when these two meet.

Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund: Simeone’s mission
Simeone is an Atletico Madrid icon.
He’s been the club’s manager since 2011 and has won nearly everything available to Atletico, including LaLiga twice and two Europa Leagues.
However, the one trophy that has escaped his grasp is the Champions League.
They’ve come close on numerous occasions, losing to inner-city rivals Real Madrid in the final twice.

However, with the way the draw has opened up, another final is certainly possible.
Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester City and Real are all on the other side of the draw, so if Atletico beat Dortmund, they would face either Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona.
Given the way they are playing this year, either of these could be there for the taking.
Then, once you get to a final, you just never know, meaning Simeone has the chance to cap off his time with Atletico spectacularly.

The big news for the hosts is that Antoine Griezmann is fit after a slight ankle injury.
But Thomas Lemar is out with a ruptured Achilles, and he is likely to be joined on the sidelines by Mario Hermoso.
Memphis Depay is also doubtful due to a knock, meaning Alvaro Morata should lead the line.
For Dortmund, Ramy Bensebaini is absent due to a knee issue, while Donyell Malen is also doubtful with a hip injury.
