We got our first looks at the Automated Digimon Simulator.
Hoang Zero is a name most in the Digimon TCG community would recognise. A Regional Champion, Nationals and Worlds commentator. Hoang, and his duo Zero Raven are as close to a household name as you can get for the Digimon TCG.
The duo announced and demonstrated their current progress on an Automated Digimon Simulator. They have been working on with a 5 person team behind the scenes for about 9 months. An official automated sim has been teased in 2021, however nothing has come of that yet. The most recent nod towards a simulator was not as expected. Instead revealing a webcomic, to the ire of many, but leading the way for this fan project.

How to play the Automated Digimon Simulator
Unfortunately, the the Digimon Card Game Online (DCGO) Sim is in Closed Alpha, making it largely invite only for now. Currently over 100 bug testers have been trialling the software, complete with a deck builder and import system. Private rooms and an online ladder are available for matchmaking, and the pair have stated that 2 separate ladders for English and Japanese ban lists will come soon enough. The Unity based project does take some lengthy setup as part of an intentional decision to not store any card assets in engine. As a result though, some pretty stellar customisation options are available client-side from card backs to the arenas to custom artwork of the cards themselves. For those not doing that, Bandai’s own official sources can be used to populate the game.
Who and where to watch?
This labor of love has swept up the community, who, in the absence of an official sim, have been feasting for an automated way to play Digimon online. Hoang and a slew of other content creators have started posting content on the Simulator.
The simulator is and plans to stay entirely free to use, the team is currently not even accepting donations. The best way to support is to Subscribe to Hoang’s channel to stay in the loop for development.
