Big E Undergoes Stem Cell Treatment
Amid his lengthy in-ring absence due to a neck injury, WWE Superstar Big E seemingly underwent stem cell therapy this week.
Fellow WWE star MVP posted an Instagram photo of himself and Big E at RejuvStem Clinic & Wellness on Monday, accompanied by the caption: “Here in Cancun at RejuvStem with one of my favorite people, Big E!!! Getting rejuvenated!!!”
Big E has long been one of the most beloved figures in WWE, but he has been out of action for over two years since suffering a broken neck during a March 2022 episode of SmackDown.
The injury occurred when Ridge Holland hit Big E with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the floor. Big E’s body never got fully rotated, causing him to land awkwardly on his head and neck.
Big E later announced that he had fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae, but doctors told him they expected him to make a full recovery.
In April, Big E took to X to provide an update on his health two years after suffering the injury:
Ettore “Big E” Ewen @WWEBigE
Hey, all!
Two year neck scans are in. Things are unchanged. My C1 has healed fibrously but has not formed new bone. I’m not medically cleared and truthfully, I may never be cleared. But I am blessed to be free of pain, immensely happy and otherwise healthy. Life is good.
Big E noted that his status remained “unchanged” since his C1 vertebra had not formed new bone. As a result, it remains unclear if he will ever be cleared to return to the ring.
Prior to his injury, Big E had already put together a Hall of Fame-worthy career highlighted by tons of major accomplishments.
He is an eight-time WWE tag team champion and one-third of one of the greatest teams in WWE history in New Day. He also held the Intercontinental Championship twice and the WWE Championship once, and he won the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2021.
Big E has nothing left to prove as a pro wrestler, but wrestling fans are undoubtedly still hopeful he will be able to return to in-ring action one day and go out on his own terms.
Trick Williams Talks Positive Experience with Sexyy Red in NXT
NXT champion Trick Williams gave some insight this week into what it has been like to work with rapper Sexyy Red.
During an appearance on the Masked Man Show (h/t Ishaan Rathi of Ringside News), Williams discussed what it was like to have Sexyy Red on last week’s episode of NXT:
“Get it Sexyy. Shake your dreads. My favorite song is ‘Shake Yo Dreads,’ for obvious reasons. I’m excited. Hip hop is what I love and am familiar with. To find out Sexyy Red is interested and wanted to come support the champion at NXT, I’m always down for that. It was a great experience.
“It was dope. Meeting Sexyy Red was like meeting one of my cousins, honestly. She’s a real chick from around the way. When I met her on Tuesday, she’s like, ‘Trick Williams, I know who you are.’ ‘I know who you are too.’ She was game and ready to have a good time. It was natural out there and fun. My entrance, she spiced it up. I wasn’t expecting all that. I told her, ‘Do your thing, we’ll do our thing. We’ll make it look good together.’ That’s what happened.”
Sexyy Red was featured on a few occasions on last week’s NXT, including opening the show by helping NXT general manager Ava reveal the new Women’s North American Championship belt and announcing that she will be the host of the Battleground premium live event this weekend.
She also accompanied Trick and Je’Von Evans to the ring for their tag team match against Joe and Mark Coffey of Gallus, which was won by Williams and Evans.
Sexyy Red’s crossover appeal helped make NXT the talk of social media last week, which is a good thing for Trick. and the rest of the NXT Superstars in terms of growing their audience and fanbase.
Angel Garza’s WWE Contract Reportedly Up Aug. 1
Legado del Fantasma member Angel Garza is reportedly set to see his WWE contract expire soon.
While it is unclear what the future holds for Garza, Sapp and Brennan reported that negotiations have taken place between Garza and WWE, and a contract offer is on the table.
Garza, 31, signed with WWE in 2019 and began as part of the cruiserweight division in NXT, holding the Cruiserweight Championship on one occasion.
Before long, he was called up to the main roster to team with Andrade. Once that partnership dissolved, Garza began teaming with his real-life cousin in Humberto Carrillo, who was previously one of his rivals.
Angel and Humberto were rebranded as Los Lotharios, but when they failed to climb the ranks in the tag team division, they were sent to NXT.
Following a brief NXT run, Angel and Humberto were called back up to the main roster to be part of Santos Escobar’s new Legado del Fantasma stable, which was feuding with Rey Mysterio’s LWO.
Garza and Carrillo haven’t done much winning since the call-up, so it is fair to wonder if Garza may want to test the free-agent waters and see if there are opportunities available elsewhere for him to become a bigger star than he currently is in WWE.
