Bournemouth vs Manchester United LIVE: Red Devils seek revenge after Old Trafford humiliation against Cherries – kick-off time, team news and how to follow

Manchester United will be looking to get their own back on Bournemouth when they travel to the Vitality Stadium this Saturday.

The Red Devils were humiliated at Old Trafford in December, losing 3-0 to the Cherries in an embarrassing defeat on their home turf.

Erik ten Hag took responsibility for that loss and he will now be hoping to architect some revenge as his United side aim to finish the season strongly.

It will be a tough task to overcome Andoni Iraola’s side again though, as they boast some impressive form despite a setback against Luton last time out.

Bournemouth vs Man United: Champions League hope?

Despite their Champions League hopes seemingly disappearing, United can still qualify this season thanks to a drastic rule change.

The competition is set to undergo some major changes next campaign with no more group stage, one big table and more teams included, which means that UEFA are prepared to hand out additional places to specific countries.

As England are one of two countries with the best UEFA co-efficient, as well as Italy, a position as low as fifth could see clubs qualify for Europe’s elite competition.

However, as United will struggle to finish even as high as fifth – with Tottenham or Aston Villa set to benefit there – they must further rely on another club to help them out.

If West Ham win the Europa League this season, it would mean that another spot in Europe’s elite competition would be freed up, which would go to the next best-placed team in the domestic league.

And if United finish the season sixth, where they currently sit, that would see them qualify for the Champions League – albeit in very specific conditions.

Manchester United have won four of their six Premier League away games against Bournemouth, losing the other two in December 2015 (1-2) and November 2019 (0-1).
Bournemouth are looking to complete their first league double over Manchester United, following their 3-0 win at Old Trafford in December.

Bournemouth vs Man United: Team news

Bournemouth will be hoping that Marcus Tavernier is fit to play after being forced off against Luton with an injury.

The Cherries are set to remain without Luis Sinisterra and Ryan Fredericks but Tyler Adams, Antoine Semenyo, and Chris Mepham may all be able to play a part.

As for United, their injury woes in defence have continued with academy product Willy Kambwala having to start against Liverpool.

Kambwala could be called up again this time out with Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans all unfit.

Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay also remain out but Marcus Rashford is expected to be fine after suffering a recent knock.

After a run of six away games that saw them keep four clean sheets and concede just two goals, Manchester United have now conceded in each of their last eight on the road, shipping 17 goals in total.
Bournemouth have won each of their last three Premier League home games – they’ve never won four in a row at home in the top-flight before.

Bournemouth vs Man United: What has been said?

Speaking after United’s draw with Liverpool, Ten Hag discussed whether his side’s hopes of playing in the Champions League were over.

“I don’t know [if the Champions League has gone]. We will keep fighting,” he said.

“We have seen we could, and should, have won all the three games in this week. Brentford was our worst performance, we didn’t deserve to win there.

“But, in the other two games, if you are in a winning position and we deserved, at that moment, to be in the winning position, then you should take the win and that makes the difference.

“We’ll fight for every point and then we will see where we will end up. It’s clear we are far behind but we will fight for every point.”

Manchester United have dropped 15 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, their most ever in a single campaign. They’ve led late in each of their last three, but failed to win any of them (1-1 v Brentford, 3-4 v Chelsea, 2-2 v Liverpool).
Despite coming into this round of games in sixth place in the Premier League table, only bottom side Sheffield United (560) have faced more shots than Manchester United in the Premier League this season (554), while the Red Devils also have the third highest expected goals against figure (58.2).
