Both Lewis Dunk and Adam Lallana clearly paid attention to one damning stat from Brentford’s draw with Manchester United.
Brighton played out a 0-0 stalemate with the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday, with the visitors creating considerably more chances in a frustrating evening for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

But Brentford’s total of five shots compared to Brighton’s 24 clearly stood out to the Seagulls thanks to one key stat from their weekend clash against Manchester United – or at least, that’s what their post-match interviews would suggest.
Despite drawing 1-1 with the Bees in the end after some stoppage time dramatics, Erik ten Hag’s side conceded an enormous 31 shots in the clash – the most of any Premier League side this season.
Now, Brighton’s players have appeared to aim a rather thinly veiled dig at the Red Devils after taking the sting out of the Bees and only allowing them a handful of chances.
“I thought defensively, we were excellent,” Dunk said after the match. “I think I don’t really remember a shot on target that they had.
“They had 30 shots in the last game so yeah, I thought we defended excellently tonight.”
Meanwhile, ex-Liverpool star Lallana had also noted the stat from the Bees’ previous game.
“We were disappointed with a point,” he said, reflecting on the game.
“We saw how dominant Brentford were the other night with 30 shots on goal but we dominated this game, just lacked the killer instinct.”

Brentford managed two shots on target on Wednesday evening in the end compared to Brighton’s six.
Man United will be hoping to not hand Chelsea 31 shots when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Thursday, live and exclusive on talkSPORT 2.
