And she holds special significance not just for the Chiefs, but the entire NFL. She’s also the only woman who has attended every Super Bowl since its first iteration in 1967. But then, she passed away on June 5, 2023. Remembering her Kelce called her a “powerful woman”.

Then went on to say, “It broke everybody’s heart in Chief’s Kingdom when Norma passed.”. But he didn’t just stop there. The tight end promised to bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy as a tribute to her. They had already won the Lamar Hunt trophy after they won the AFC Title game.

Remembering Norma Hunt

Some affectionately refer to Norma as “The First Lady of Football.” She was married to Lamar Hunt, the founder of the Chiefs and the namesake of the AFC Championship Trophy. She also holds a remarkable streak of attending Super Bowls for a record 57 years. Hunt, the widow of Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt.

Hunt had passed away in 2006. She was also the mother of current Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. Her contributions don’t just end there. She played an integral role in the naming of sports’ most significant event. According to Fox News, Lamar Hunt suggested the name “Super Bowl” to the NFL after Norma purchased a Super Ball toy for their two children, Clark and Daniel.

In February, Hunt’s 57th trip to the Super Bowl was particularly jubilant as the Chiefs clinched victory against the Philadelphia Eagles, securing their third Super Bowl win. Can Kelce deliver on his promise and do it again this time for the second straight year?
