Bruce Carrington handed Jason Sanchez his second defeat in a row when the pair squared off at Charles F. Dodge City Center in Pembroke Pines, FL on Saturday, December 9. The bout was featured on the top of prelims, leading to the main card topped by Robeisy Ramirez vs Rafael Espinoza.
The scheduled for 10 rounds featherweight contest didn’t go the distance. Carrington stopped Sanchez with a series of big punches, twice dropping him to the canvas along the way. The referee waved the fight off at 2 minutes and 59 seconds into the second round.
With the victory by TKO, Brooklyn’s 26-year-old Bruce Carrington improved to 10-0, 6 KOs and remained unbeaten. 29-year-old former world title challenger Jason Sanchez of Albuquerque, New Mexico dropped to 16-5, 9 KOs.
“This was a statement to the rest of the featherweight division,” Carrington said. “I want all the smoke. It doesn’t’ matter who it is.”
In the UK and Australia, the event aired live on Sunday, December 10.
