England, France and Spain are just three nations that have an abundance of options to choose from and could do with having more spots.

And for those who miss out initially, they don’t stand much chance of getting in.

Can players be called up to Euro 2024 after the deadline?

Yes, players who are originally left out of their respective international squads can indeed be called up.

However, there is a strict time-frame and conditions in place.

Players can only be called up to replace a different squad member through injury or illness.

But this must happen before the start of the tournament.

Teams have up to a day before the beginning of Euro 2024 to replace any injured or ill squad members with an alternative.

However, as soon as the tournament begins, no changes can be made.

So a team could lose three or four players to injury at the start of the Euros, and they wouldn’t be able to replace them.

Each nation has submitted a provisional squad with 55 names on it while the preliminary squads for Euro 2024 will be confirmed on Tuesday, May 21.

The deadline for the final 26-man squads for the Euros is then on Friday, June 7.

And any replacement or squad member for the actual tournament must be on that list.
