It represented the second consecutive year that he secured a victory in the tournament, as the 20-year-old was already the youngest man in history to win Indian Wells back in 2023.
It was also a rematch of the 2023 final, as Alcaraz was able to take down Medvedev once again. The victory represented a measure of revenge for the No. 2 player in the world, as he fell to Medvedev in the 2023 U.S. Open semifinals. Alcaraz appeared to be in trouble after dropping the first three games of the match, although he surged back to take the first set in a tiebreak.
Tennis fans were amazed by his victory.

Carlos Alcaraz becomes the 2nd man to win 5 Masters titles before the age of 21.
The only other man to do it… His idol, Rafa Nadal.
Legendary footsteps to follow.

Some people just play tennis, but not Carlos Alcaraz.
Carlos Alcaraz performs tennis.
The 20 year old is an artist and the Indian Wells center court is his canvas.
He struck a great balance with his vast array of shotmaking & electrifying athleticism with making good choices.

Did not realize that Alcaraz is the first ATP player to defend Indian Wells since Djokovic won it three straight times from 2014-2016 (saw this on @TennisChannel). Gonna take a special performance to beat him here; last one was 2022 Nadal.

ALCARAZ!
First title since Wimbledon.
And a second set against Medvedev in which he looked like the man who will win 12 Slams in a row (JOKE).
Seriously, he was superb, and got better throughout the event.

Alcaraz wins his first 🏆 since Wimbledon 2023.
That’s gotta be a relief for him and his team, after going through injuries and tough losses since.
Carlos reminded everyone that when he’s at his best, he’s the best player in the world. Full stop.#BNPParibasOpen
It was a tough road to the final for Alcaraz, as he defeated Jannik Sinner to snap his 19-match winning streak in the semifinals on Saturday.
Sunday’s victory represented the 13th ATP title of his career as well as his fifth Masters 1000 title. His next opportunity to earn another tournament victory will come during the Miami Open, as he’s expected to participate.
