These reports are deeply worrying.
No #PL fixture has been played on Xmas Eve for 27 years & this decision would be unacceptable.
We should be helping fans travel to away fixtures – it would be a spit in the face of supporters if 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 hurdle is placed in their way. https://t.co/84o2diMoQ9

Barring a huge backlash from supporters, it will be the first time in 28 years that a Premier League fixture has taken place the day before Christmas.
This is despite the near-certain disruption that will occur on public transport – not to mention the added inconvenience to families looking to spend precious time with each other.
According to sources, Wolves vs Chelsea has been selected for the tradition-breaking game, with the match pencilled in for a 1pm kick-off.
However Chelsea Supporters’ Trust believe that the arrangement will do nothing to help fans to attend.
Taking to X, they wrote: “These reports are deeply worrying.
“No Premier League fixture has been played on Xmas Eve for 27 years and this decision would be unacceptable.
“We should be helping fans travel to away fixtures – it would be a spit in the face of supporters if another hurdle is placed in their way.”
A Wolves supporter called Sean also aired his concerns to Andy Goldstein on talkSPORT Drive, saying: “I think that it’s wrong.

“They haven’t considered the fans in the decision – they’ve thought about the TV more than the fans.
“There’s a couple of things, the logistics of it and people might go to see family on Christmas Eve, stay with them on Christmas Day and then go to football on Boxing Day after.
“For others there’s the religious side of going to Christmas Eve mass.
“Selfishly I’d go [if it was at Molineux] with a 1pm kick-off, but I’d struggle if it was an away game, to be honest.”
