The wide receiver position is a low-key need for the Chiefs ahead of the 2024 NFL draft and Kansas City has begun meeting with several prospects at the position.
Washington receiver Jalen McMillan is one of the players the Chiefs will meet for a top-30 visit, according to Red Zone Insider’s James Layton.
McMillan was the third pass-catching threat for the Huskies and posted 45 receptions for 559 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. He missed four games in the middle of the season after McMillan opened the year with three consecutive games with at least eight receptions or 90 receiving yards. McMillan added 79 receptions for 1,098 yards and nine touchdowns in 2022.
Kansas City added Marquise Brown to its crowded room already occupied by Rashee Rice, Kadarius Toney, Justin Watson and Skyy Moore, but none apart from Brown and Rice have any consistency. Tight end Travis Kelce is the de facto No. 1 pass-catcher for Patrick Mahomes, but that doesn’t mean general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid shouldn’t look at others in the draft.
The 6-foot-1, 197-pounder figures to be a solid slot target who is likely a Day 2 pick in either the second or third round of the draft. McMillan could immediately push for third on the Chiefs’ wide receiver depth chart if he were to come in and perform.
