The attorney representing Rashee Rice issued a statement regarding the crash involving a car registered to the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver.
“On behalf of Rashee Rice, his thoughts are with everyone impacted by the automobile on Saturday,” attorney Royce West said, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly.”
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted one of the cars involved in a multi-car crash on Saturday was registered to Rice and believed to be racing another car. Those who were in that car reportedly fled the scene.
Chiefs president Mark Donovan addressed the situation during an appearance on KCMO Talk Radio’s Mundo in the Morning (h/t Doha Madani and Elisha Fieldstadt of NBC News):
“In all these situations you have to wait until you have all the facts and frankly, we don’t have all the facts at this point. The one comforting fact that we do have is that there was a multi-car crash in Texas, in Dallas, and fortunately, it doesn’t appear that anyone was hurt and we should be grateful for that. We’ll get to the bottom of it, we’ll gather the facts and we’ll react accordingly.”
Kelli Smith of the Dallas Morning News reported that a police call sheet listed Rice as the suspected driver of one of the two cars that were involved in a high-speed crash. It led to a “chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles,” per Madani and Fieldstadt.
Smith reported that police were looking to speak with Rice.
Police said there were no major injuries, although two people were taken to a local hospital.

Rice was a rookie last season after the Chiefs selected him with a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He was a key part of the team’s receiver rotation as Kansas City won a second consecutive Super Bowl.
