If this was a 2022 game, it would be easy to suggest leaning heavily toward Chiefs players for Sunday night-only or Sunday-Monday DFS contests. However, Kansas City’s offense hasn’t played at a consistently high level, and the Packers have started to find a rhythm.
This is why taking a flier on Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love ($5.8K) could be a fine budget maneuver instead of just inking in Patrick Mahomes ($7.7K). Kansas City has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs, but Love has some quality scrambling upside.
A lot will hinge on how you view last week’s offensive breakout against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs scored 17 points after intermission in that game but were held scoreless in the second half of their three previous contests. If you believe the Raiders game was a mirage, Mahomes looks a bit risky. The Packers have allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.
The smart play here could be to save a little on Love and splurge on skill players like tight end Travis Kelce ($7.6K), who is virtually matchup-proof. Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco ($6.7K) also seems like a strong play based on workload.
Last week, Pacheco tallied 99 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns on 20 touches.
The Kansas City defense/special teams unit ($3.1K) is the one to roster in this matchup. While the Chiefs offense hasn’t been perfect, it has made fewer mistakes than Green Bay’s—though it’s close. The Chiefs have allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing D/ST units, while the Packers have allowed the 1th-fewest.
Sacks and turnovers should be the deciding factor here (and perhaps in the game itself). Kansas City has recorded 37 sacks, while Green Bay has recorded only 26. The Chiefs have had a defensive takeaway in every game but one, while the Packers have had three takeaway-free games this season.
