Coach Education: Panama City Coaching Clinic and Africa to host the first Development Regional Cup

Coach Education: Panama City Coaching Clinic and Africa to host the first Development Regional Cup

2023 Panama City World Triathlon Coaching Clinic
Americas Triathlon continues implementing Development Regional Cup events across Latin America. In July, two National Federations, Panama and Costa Rica, hosted not only racing,  but also various development projects linked to athlete and coach development.

Javier Mon (ESP) and Ultiminio Alvarez (MEX) conducted a coaching clinic in Panama City.  The main objective of the clinic was to share theoretical-practical knowledge concerning training planning in triathlon. The clinic’s content is related to the relevant sections of the World Triathlon Level 2 Coaches Course and is delivered in 12 hours of face-to-face sessions. Participants dug deep into the practice of training programming by being presented with real-life scenarios and solving different training programming tasks for various competition distances, athlete levels, and training environments. Coach participants analysed all the conditioning factors when programming the training load for these case studies. The examples based on data extracted from measurements carried out before Development Regional Cups. Topics related to the long-term development of athletes from youth to elite are on the programme.

Africa to host the first Development Regional Cup event in Kenya
After the Americas Triathlon, Africa is the next continent to implement the Development Continental Cup concept and will host the first event in Diani, Kenya in early August.  In conjunction with the event World Triathlon Development will conduct 2023 Diani World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar and various sessions that helps athletes and coaches development in a racing environment.

Sierra Leone made its debut among TRI Certified Level 1 Coaches
The 2023 Port Loko OS – World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course has been exceptional by those nine coaches who spent countless hours completing their online studies. Some of them live in areas with minimal access to the Internet and even to electricity. Coach candidates used their mobile phones to access learning content, proving that World Triathlon’s Coaches’ Courses are accessible and doable for all.

Kudos to all, including the National Federation President, Mr Winston Crowther, who is now listed among the World Triathlon Certified Level 1 Coaches:
Mr Alfred T. Sesay, Mr Amidu Papa Kamara, Ms Dinnis Kadwin Sarah Migangi, Mr Ibrahim A. Turay, Mr Lansana Conteh, Ms Mariama D. Rollings-Kamara Mr Mohamed F A W Sesay, Mr Mohamed Madieu Barrie, Mr Winston D C Crowther
