Conor McGregor seems to have mixed feelings about a potential spot in the UFC’s Hall of Fame for rival Dustin Poirier.
McGregor took to Twitter on Tuesday to say there was “no way” Poirier’s career was worthy of induction in the UFC’s Hall of Fame, and he felt pretty passionate about his point.
“Never won an undisputed title. 0-3 in title fights,” McGregor wrote on Twitter replying to Ariel Helwani. “I disagree on Hall of Fame. All due respect, he has one solid win over me, where he was getting pucked around the cage before he got it, and then the second off a leg break. He’s done f*ck all Ariel. Not hall of fame, no way.”
He then added in a couple more tweets,
“Bottled it against Nate,” McGregor wrote. “Ariel is saying he should go for Nate next, forgetting he already booked and bottled it against Nate. It’s recency bias, I am sorry. He is a nice lad, he is not UFC Hall of Fame.”
“LW division Hall of Fame at best. Failed at FW, 0-3 LW titles with a few wins. Colby, not a peep out of him after all was said, bottled Nate also. That’s his 170 run. 0. A LW Hall of Famer at best. The Hall of Fame needs tightening like vice grips. UFC vet
However, minutes after his initial post, McGregor seemed to have a change of mind.
“Actually, do you [sic] know what? Let him in then, f*ck it. I don’t like to kick a man when he is down. It’s not my style. All good have a nice one, see ya’s at Xmas.”

Both McGregor and Poirier have plenty of history.
The two first crossed paths in 2014 when McGregor stopped Poirier in the first round of their featherweight contest at UFC 178. Years later in 2021, McGregor and Poirier rematched at lightweight in the main event of UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi. This time, Poirier stopped McGregor in the second round.
The build to the rematch was very respectful and cordial, but that vastly changed ahead of their trilogy bout at UFC 264 in July 2021. In this third meeting, McGregor suffered a gruesome leg break in the first round of their contest. Poirier, who was likely ahead in the bout prior to the injury, won by TKO due to a doctor’s stoppage.
That was the last time McGregor competed in the UFC. He’s been out of the testing pool of the United States Anti-Doping Agency, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, nursing his injury and getting ready for a comeback.
McGregor says he’s now fit to fight again, but has yet to get in the USADA testing pool, a requirement to compete in the UFC.
