DeAndre Hopkins was hoping to cash in one last time before the wrinkled hands of Father Time wrap him in a full embrace.
He did just that on Sunday, agreeing to join the Titans on a two-year deal.
Hopkins, 31, is one of the greatest pass-catchers in NFL history. And despite taking part in just nine games last year due to a PED suspension, Hopkins was a force; Nuk netted 717 yards and three touchdowns on the year, most of which came after Kyler Murray went down with an ACL tear.
Per reports, Hopkins was seeking a deal comparable to that of Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ inked a one-year, $15 million contract with the Ravens earlier in the offseason, a sizable price tag for a player who had missed the whole of the 2022 season after rupturing his ACL in the prior year’s Super Bowl.

According to a report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Hopkins’ new deal will see him paid $26 million over the course of two years. The devil is in the details, though, as incentives could net Hopkins an additional $6 million for up to $32 million total over two years.
Hopkins’ base salary sits at $12 million in 2023. However, if he hits the necessary requirements, he could reel in upwards of $15 million.

Highest-paid NFL wide receivers in 2023
Hopkins’ latest deal falls well short of the gaudy contracts earned by top pass-catchers such as Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams and Cooper Kupp. But it could certainly be worse for a 31-year old coming off a pair of shortened seasons.
In terms of average annual value, Hopkins will bring in $13 million a year. That places him just outside the top-20 highest paid receivers as he is set to make $500,000 more per year than Jets wideout Corey Davis.

It represents a low-risk investment for the Titans, who get a No. 1-caliber receiving threat on No. 2/No. 3 money. Meanwhile, Hopkins will look to prove he still has stuff left in the tank as he looks to cement his Hall of Fame credentials over the next few seasons.
