Tristan Broz played hero for the Denver Pioneers in the Frozen Four.

His overtime goal rocketed off the back of the net with 8:51 remaining to lead No. 3 Denver to a 2-1 win over No. 2 Boston University.

Denver (31-9-3) moves on to its 13th NCAA championship, looking to capture a record 10th national title — the most in history.

The Pioneers started slow, allowing a first period goal to Boston University (28-9-3). Denver’s goaltender Matt Davis kept it at a one-goal deficit throughout the game until Denver tied it in the second period.

Davis finished with 33 saves, while Boston University’s Mathieu Caron made 27 saves.

The Pioneers will play the winner of No. 1 Boston College/Michigan on Saturday, April 13.

7:51 p.m.: The 4-on-4 play is done, and both teams are back at full strength.

7:50 p.m.: Lane Hutson dribbles between multiple Denver defenders, but Davis saves the shot off his left pad.

7:48 p.m.: Both teams go to 4-on-4 after a scuffle after the play.

7:43 p.m.: BU kills the penalty and is at even strength in overtime.

7:24 p.m.: BU avoids the major penalty and gets two minutes for boarding.

7:23 p.m.: BU picks up another penalty. It’s under review to determine whether it’s a major penalty. There’s just 1:13 remaining in regulation

7:20 p.m.: Harvey fires a shot from the blue line off the post. Just barely missed the opportunity to give BU the lead.

7:16 p.m.: Five minutes of regulation remains and the score is still tied 1-1.

7:08 p.m.: Another excellent glove save by Caron to keep the game tied! BU survived the power play, but Denver nearly put one in seconds after the teams evened up.

7:04 p.m.: BU picks up its third penalty for tripping. Play has been faster lately, but also lots of bodies hitting the ice.

6:58 p.m.: Celebrini gets a wrist shot on goal and redirects a shot moments later — both of which are saved by Davis.

6:57 p.m.: BU survives the power play, but not before a massive scrum in front of net nearly gave Denver the lead.

6:54 p.m.: Second penalty of the day, once again by the Terriers. Denver will be up 5-on-4 due to a tripping call.

Second period: Denver 1, Boston University 1

6:33 p.m.: What a save! Caron scoops the puck up on a diving play to keep the score tied 1-1 with under 30 seconds to go in the period.

6:03 p.m.: Tuch nearly redirects Jack Harvey’s shot into the net, but the puck just misses his stick. BU still leads 1-0.

5:58 p.m.: Celebrini gets a clean shot on goal, but Davis saves it. The BU freshman wacks the puck wide out of the air.

First period: Boston University 1, Denver 0

5:30 p.m.: The Terriers defense has stifled the Pioneers so far. Rarely does Denver get shots on goal to challenge Caron. Denver has racked up four icing calls thus far.

5:17 p.m.: GOAL! Luke Tuch takes the puck from the opposite blue line and goes 1-on-1 with a defender to score the short-handed goal with just 13 seconds remaining on the power play. BU leads 1-0 with about 12 minutes to play in the first period.

— NCAA Ice Hockey (@NCAAIceHockey) April 11, 2024

5:15 p.m.: The Terriers are called for high sticking, and Denver will go on a 5-on-4 power play.

5:12 p.m.: Caron makes a save, then quickly shifts to save the rebound shot to keep the game scoreless with just over 14 minutes to play in the first period.

— NCAA Ice Hockey (@NCAAIceHockey) April 11, 2024
