Drake looks to score more than a $1 million payday after playing a huge wager on Alex Pereira to win in the main event at UFC 300 on Saturday.
The rapper, who notoriously puts down serious money ahead of some of the biggest fights in combat sports, showed off his latest wager on Saturday ahead of the historic event in Las Vegas. Drake wagered $675,000 on Pereira to win with the chance to earn back just over $1.194 million if the Brazilian successful defends his title against Jamahal Hill.
Pereira remains a slight favorite according to most sportsbooks after he knocked out Jiri Prochazka to become champion this past November. Meanwhile, Hill looks to pull off the upset after he relinquished the light heavyweight title when he suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon playing a pickup game of basketball last summer.
The fight at UFC 300 serves as Hill’s first action since January 2023 when he defeated Pereira’s mentor and coach Glover Teixeira to win the belt.
Of course, Drake’s wagers always come along with healthy amount of superstition because the hip-hop star from Canada also notably picks wrong in many of his biggest bets. That’s led to a moniker known as the “Drake curse” whenever he puts money down on somebody.
Ironically, Drake won over $2 million when he backed Israel Adesanya in his rematch with Pereira back in April 2023, but he also famously lost $400,000 betting on Jorge Masvidal on the same card and he ended up losing a decision to Gilbert Burns.
Pereira attempts to break that curse on Saturday when he headlines UFC 300 against Hill.
