Duke big man Kyle Filipowski told reporters that he’s “thankful” the knee injury he suffered last Saturday amid Wake Forest fans’ court storming following an 83-79 win wasn’t too bad.
“I’m very thankful it wasn’t anything too bad and that I was able to play today,” Filipowski said after he helped lead the Blue Devils to a 84-59 home win over Louisville. “Like I said, just really thankful for that.”
Filipowski posted nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists in 29 minutes.
Filipowski suffered the injury as fans rushed past him following Wake Forest’s big win. Specifically, the ailment appeared to occur after one fan made contact with his right knee while running past him. He had to be helped off the floor afterward.

Thankfully, Filipowski is OK and didn’t have to miss even one game. That’s great news for Duke, as the potential NBA lottery pick leads the team in scoring, rebounding and blocks.
With the win, the No. 10 Blue Devils moved to 13-4 in the ACC, one game behind first-place UNC. Up next is a home date with Virginia on Saturday.
