Manchester United are on the road again with Thursday’s trip to Wolves marking a return to Premier League action.
The Reds have had only one fixture in the division since the turn of the year, the 2-2 draw with Tottenham, but start February with a tough clash against Gary O’Neil’s in-form side.
This round of games is a repeat of the opening weekend of the campaign and victory would complete the double over the men from Molineux, following the 1-0 win at Old Trafford in August, courtesy of Raphael Varane’s goal.
Both teams have progressed to the Emirates FA Cup fifth round and Erik ten Hag used the tie at Newport County to reintroduce several players after injury. Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount have remained absent due to injury, while Sofyan Amrabat is to play for Morocco in their Africa Cup of Nations clash with South Africa on Tuesday night.
Anthony Martial is a long-term casualty after undergoing an operation on a groin complaint.
WOLVES’ TEAM NEWS
The Molineux side have gone seven games unbeaten since a 3-0 reverse to West Ham United on 17 December, recording some impressive results, such as defeating Chelsea 2-1 and registering victories by three-goal margins against both Brentford and Everton.
Manager O’Neil will reveal if they came through the Black Country derby unscathed, after a 2-0 triumph at The Hawthorns, but Hwang Hee-chan (South Korea) and Boubacar Traore (Mali) are away on international duty, with the latter due to face Burkina Faso today in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Pablo Sarabia is getting close to a return but Joao Gomes is suspended, after his red card against Brentford in the FA Cup.
