The New York Giants signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year contract extension last offseason, but it sounds like the team is already trying to move on from him.

Rich Eisen said on Monday’s episode of The Rich Eisen Show (5:00 mark) that he heard at the NFL Scouting Combine last week that the Giants “are absolutely done with Daniel Jones.” Eisen went on to add that the team regrets giving him a $160 million deal last offseason.

“Might have to play him this year, but that ain’t it, and they feel that ain’t it. The words I heard at the combine multiple times, two words were ‘buyer’s remorse,'” Eisen said. “But they have to say what they say publicly. Now, I may be way off, and this may be patently unfair.”

Jones played six games during the 2023 season before suffering a torn ACL in his right knee. Prior to his injury, he threw for 909 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions while leading the team to a 1-5 record.

The Giants selected Jones with the sixth pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Coincidentally, New York has the No. 6 pick in the 2024 draft, and this year’s class is filled with talented quarterback prospects such as USC’s Caleb Williams, UNC’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels.

Jones has shown flashes of being a reliable starter, but he’s struggled to find consistency throughout his career. It would be understandable if the Giants choose to reset the quarterback position this offseason by drafting their signal-caller of the future.
