Ezri Konsa’s brother and other players’ families were caught in the crossfire from angry England fans who threw beer cups.

Some Three Lions supporters angrily responded to their Euro 2024 0-0 draw against Slovenia on Tuesday night by launching their cups onto the pitch.

Gareth Southgate was seemingly targeted as he and his players made their way around the RheinEnergieStadion at full-time to applaud them.

And it appears as though family members of some of the England stars were caught up in the protests.

“We haven’t spoken about it,” the Aston Villa defender said when he was asked if the squad had spoken about Southgate being a target.

“We were aware of it because I think some of our family members got hit with a few drinks. We were aware but we haven’t spoken about it as players.

“We check on them. There’s kids in the stands with family so we always have to check on them, reassure them and ask if they’re all right.

“We know that in football stuff like that happen. We try not to think about it too much so we move on.

“My brother was hit, a few others. But we haven’t spoken about it too much and there’s not much we can do about it.

“I spoke to him after, I asked him and how he was and he said he was fine. It was to the right [of the stadium], it wasn’t directly behind the goal, but it was coming from all angles.”

England beat Serbia 1-0 in their opening match Euro 2024 before having to settle for a 1-1 draw with Denmark despite taking the lead.

Their performance against Slovenia was arguably their worst in Group C but the Three Lions still finished top on five points.

Jason Cundy explains why England will be better against the top teams at Euro 2024 as Jamie O’Hara fumes

Many fans have raised questions over the balance of the team, with players including Phil Foden and even Harry Kane falling below expectations despite their excellent seasons for their clubs.

Despite an apparent lack of faith in the squad as of late, England have still done enough to reach the last 16 of the tournament.

They will face Slovakia on Sunday evening, live on talkSPORT, in Gelsenkirchen, which is where the beat Serbia.

Victory would see them face either Switzerland or Italy in the quarter-finals, with a clash against one of Romania, the Netherlands, Austria or Turkey coming in the semi-final if they get there.
