Reanne Evans moved within two wins of a record-extending 13th women’s world title with a 4-0 quarter-final whitewash win over Mary Talbot in China.
The 12-time winner – who claimed her title victories between 2005 and 2019 – produced breaks of 66 and 89 in easing past fellow English player Talbot to set up a semi-final meeting with talented Chinese potter Bai Yulu on Saturday.
Former women’s world junior champion Bai was also in good scoring form in Dongguan in her 4-2 victory over Hong Kong’s Katrina Wan courtesy of breaks of 48, 40, 55 and 67.
There was better news for Hong Kong’s three-time women’s world champion Ng On Yee, who enjoyed a 4-1 win over India’s Anupama Ramachandran boosted by two 50-plus breaks.
On Yee will face 2022 winner and world No. 1 Mink Nutcharut in the last four after the Thai player coasted past China’s Han Fang with a 4-0 success.
Evans and Bai meet at 4am GMT in the first best-of-nine frame semi-final on Saturday morning, with On Yee and Mink clashing in the second semi-final at 8am.
The winner claims the Mandy Fisher Trophy and a £10,000 first prize.
