As if the story wasn’t crazy enough, the Week 6 of the NFL season decided to claim some starting quarterbacks too. In a week where we lost Christian McCaffrey, David Montgomery, Deebo Samuel, and Kyren Williams (read more about that here), the injury gods also took Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, and Jimmy Garoppolo.
It’s a cruel world, even in our fantasy version, with major impacts being felt across the league as a result.
Below, we’ll give you the latest news on these starting QBs and break down how their injuries could potentially affect the Week 7 fantasy landscape. Justin Fields injury update, Week 7 fantasy outlook
After the Chicago offense finally starting putting things together in recent weeks, the Bears were dealt what might be a devastating injury to Fields. The former Ohio State star had been impacting games with his arm rather than his legs, throwing for 335 and 282 yards, respectively, in each of the past two weeks. Against the struggling Vikings, Fields was in a spot to keep that going for a third straight game, potentially giving the organization a reason to keep their eyes from wandering to the next big thing in the college ranks. However, the quarterback would leave and not return thanks to a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. Fields would pop it back in, but could not grip the ball and is slated to have an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury, according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer. Coach Matt Eberflus said on Monday it’s “doubtful” that Fields would suit up against the Raiders.
In the meantime, the Bears lost another game after notching their first win in nearly a calendar year the week before. Undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent came on in relief, rushing for a touchdown in the Bears’ attempted comeback. However, he would throw an interception and lose a fumble, illustrating the dire situation the team finds itself in. With Fields out indefinitely, it puts the floor in the basement for all of Chicago’s fantasy-relevant players with a ceiling that isn’t much higher. Sam Howell, Derek Carr, and Josh Dobbs are the best, widely available Week 7 pickups to replace Fields in your fantasy lineup.

Trevor Lawrence injury update, Week 7 fantasy outlook
UPDATE: Lawrence reportedly has an “[in]significant” knee sprain, but he’s still “questionable,” at best, to play against New Orleans on Thursday.
After back-to-back wins to right the ship across the pond in London, the Jaguars returned home to American soil in search of their third straight win. They got it in convincing fashion, knocking off the Colts with ease, but they might’ve lost their quarterback as a result. Lawrence was forced out in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and did not return, though it is worth noting his exit came with just a few minutes left while Jacksonville held a 17-point lead. Regardless, Lawrence is scheduled for an MRI on his left knee to see what the damage is. With a quick turnaround thanks to the team’s Thursday night showdown in New Orleans, time is not on Lawrence’s side even if the injury isn’t serious. In the meantime, Lawrence is currently being considered day-to-day, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
WIthout Lawrence, the Jags would turn to C.J. Beathard to start on Thursday night. Since arriving in Jacksonville, Beathard hasn’t been asked to start, only taking a snap in eight games over three years and throwing just 15 passes. Throughout his career, the former 49ers’ backup hasn’t been a model of efficiency, throwing 18 touchdowns to 14 interceptions, owning a completion percentage of 59 percent and a record of 2-10. Downgrade any and all Jaguars players on your team if he gets the nod. Even if Lawrence plays, his potential limited mobility will complicate matters against a very good Saints defense. Sam Howell, Derek Carr, and Josh Dobbs remain the best widely available waiver-wire options in most leagues.

Jimmy Garoppolo injury update, Week 7 fantasy outlook
It’s not pretty, but the Raiders keep on winning. After taking the last two, Vegas is back to .500 after their season appeared to be heading down the drain thanks to a three-game losing streak. However, their winning ways might become a lot tougher to maintain thanks to a back injury that Garoppolo suffered on Sunday. However, head coach Josh McDaniels told reporters Monday that the team believes they dodged a bullet with the injury, according to Rapoport, meaning he might not miss much time, if any. The oft-injured quarterback was replaced by another former Patriot, Brian Hoyer, who did enough to win.
If Garoppolo is out, it’s unclear who would start. Aidan O’Connell got the nod in Garoppolo’s absence in Week 4, a 24-17 loss to the Chargers. Hoyer has been the backup all season, which makes him the logical choice to slide up the depth chart, but that isn’t how McDaniels has approached the situation so far. It will be something to monitor as the week unfolds, but the player with the most to gain in this situation is likely Davante Adams, who has been overshadowed at times by Garoppolo’s connection with newcomer Jakobi Meyers.
