Have you heard? A brand-new fantasy football game, specific to Manchester United, is coming for the start of the 2024/25 season.
If you would like to get involved, you can register your interest here ahead of the game’s upcoming launch, upon which you will be able to compete against your friends and score points based on the real-life performances of your selected players from Erik ten Hag’s team.
Fantasy United will arrive alongside official Player Trading Cards, our forthcoming digital collectibles series, and it is these cards – which come in three rarities: Classic, Rare and Ultra-Rare – that you will be able to collect and assemble into a squad that nets points based on the on-pitch actions of your chosen Reds.
While more information – including details of the scoring system – will be announced in due course, you may now be wondering which players would be best for your line-ups this term. So, we thought we would take a look at who would have bagged you the most points in Saturday’s 2-0 friendly win over Rangers at Murrayfield…
With 21 members of Ten Hag’s squad getting a runout in our second game of the pre-season, the points were shared widely, but accumulated in no bigger chunk than by goalscoring winger Amad.
If the Ivorian was in your side, he would have netted you a 10-point haul, despite only playing the first half in the Scottish capital, as the boss changed his full outfield line-up at the interval.
The 22-year-old’s curling finish to open the scoring in the 39th minute racked up half of those points, while starting the match (two points), creating three chances (two points again) and being our highest scoring forward in the win at full-time (one point) took his tally up into double figures.
Our no.16 narrowly beat team-mate Andre Onana to the top spot, with the shot-stopper our only player to feature for the entirety of the contest, putting up nine points on the day.
Mason Mount, who got the assist for Amad’s opener, was third for points having accumulated seven for his efforts, while six players – Jonny Evans, Sam Murray, second goalscorer Joe Hugill, Maxi Oyedele, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and new signing Leny Yoro – were just behind Mason after banking six each.
ROBBO V RAPTOR: WHO WON?
With Fantasy United not in play until our Premier League opener against Fulham on 16 August, the aforementioned points have not been registered, but will hopefully provide something of an insight into what you can expect over the coming season.
Just for fun, however, we did ask former Reds skipper Bryan Robson and fantasy football content creator Ross Dowsett, aka FPL Raptor, to pick their own line-ups, for a special expert v legend head-to-head. And we can now reveal who scored highest…
The honours in our invitational match-up went to Raptor, whose 31 points was enough to better Robbo’s 25, even without his Ultra-Rare pick Marcus Rashford playing.
Rashford’s absence, due to a small niggle, meant Ross was minus the player that could have scored him triple points, as an Ultra-Rare selection. Cards of that quality will have their points multiplied by three, while Rare players will score double.

Fantasy United players can include one of each in their five-man squads and, thankfully for Raptor, his Rare choice, Mount, netted him 14 points all together.
Contributions from Onana (nine), Evans (six) and Casemiro (two) meant he had enough to prevail despite Rashford’s absence.
Robson was also without Rashford – his Rare selection – but like Raptor did gain points from Casemiro (six, as his Ultra-Rare player), Evans and Mount, as well as Wan-Bissaka, even if it was not quite enough to come out on top this time around!
Be sure to keep an eye out for more expert v legends duels this pre-season, ahead of your chance to play the full game when the campaign gets under way.
