The U.S. Under-17 men’s national team begins its quest to lift a World Cup title in just under three weeks time and Gonzalo Segares will have plenty of key players to rely on in Indonesia.
Keyrol Figueroa, Adam Beaudry, and Cruz Medina headlined Segares’ 21-player roster for the upcoming 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The tournament will run from Nov. 10 – Dec. 2 in Indonesia with the Americans set for their 18th all-time involvement.
The USMNT U-17’s will face Korea Republic on Nov. 12 before also squaring off with Burkina Faso on Nov. 15 and France on Nov. 18.
A total of 13 of the 21 players on this roster were part of the USMNT U-17 roster that clinched a World Cup berth at the Concacaf U-17 Championship. Figueroa and Medina were both named to the Concacaf U-17 Championship Best XI for their individual performances.
“After a two-year journey, we’ve put together a deep, versatile squad and we’re excited for them to take on the world’s best in Indonesia,” Segares said. “Representing the United States on the global stage is a massive honor and we’re ready to give our all. Our group opponents will be challenging, but they will provide exactly the high-level, competitive experience you want at a World Cup. I’m proud of how far this team has come throughout the cycle, developing from teenagers to young men, and I can’t wait to get started.”
The USMNT U-17’s will train in Bali for two weeks before traveling on Nov. 7 to Jakarta, which will host all three of the Americans’ group stage games.
Defenders Shakir Nixon (LAFC) and Luca Bombino (LAFC) as well as forward Sal Olivas (Philadelphia Union) have been named alternates on the roster and will train with the team before the start of the competition.
