Ironman and the Dorchester County Department of Tourism, in conjunction with the County Council of Dorchester County, Commissioners of Cambridge, and Sheriff of Dorchester County, have agreed to a five-year agreement to keep the Ironman triathlon and Ironman 70.3 Eagleman triathlon in Dorchester County, Maryland, through 2028.
Dorchester County, located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, includes the town of Cambridge. Ironman added that the area’… ‘exceptional community support has made each event a fixture on many athletes’ calendars since each event’s inception, the IM 70.3 Eagleman race in 1996 and the IM Maryland race in 2014.’
Last edition of Ironman Maryland took place last weekend. The next edition of IM 70.3 Eagleman is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Ironman Maryland begins with a 2.4-mile swim in the Choptank River, followed by a 112-mile ride through rural Dorchester County including the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, and caps off with a 26.2-mile run through downtown Cambridge and the area’s coastal neighbourhoods.
Ironman 70.3 Eagleman follows a similar route, which includes a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run that culminates at Gerry Boyle Park adjacent to the Choptank River in Cambridge, Maryland.
