That’s it for today on talkSPORT.com’s transfer news blog.

We’ll be back in the morning with the latest on all the big transfer news and football stories.

Jason Cundy has hit out at Chelsea for allowing Mason Mount’s situation to get to the point where he leaves for Manchester United.

The Blues have agreed a deal worth up to £60million to allow their academy star to join their rivals at Old Trafford, something that The Sports Bar host has described as ‘catastrophic’.

He said: “I’ve watched Mase and I’ve followed his career. I do Chelsea TV so I’ve been lucky enough to document his career over the years,” Cundy explained.

“Watched him. he went to Vitesse, was an absolute rising star over there. Come back, went to Derby, a rising star. He’s done what everyone else at Chelsea football club and the academy [thought he’d do].

“They all predicted this. Something went catastrophically wrong with the club between him [and them]. I’ve got no idea how it happened.

“What I’m saying is he’s developed into a fine young footballer.”

Chelsea have announced the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal.Jackson has signed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge. The Blues’ co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: “We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea.“He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.“We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates.”https://twitter.com/ChelseaFC/status/1674844247151738902

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Dominik Szoboszlai, talkSPORT understands.

The RB Leipzig star has a £60million release clause in his contract, but that is due to expire imminently.

However the Reds have moved quickly to trigger that release clause, meaning that the player can now progress to undergoing a medical.

Should the deal be completed, he’ll be Liverpool’s second signing of the summer after Alexis Mac Allister joined from Brighton.

Manchester United are still in discussion with David de Gea over his future, the club have confirmed.

The Spanish goalkeeper is due to be out of contract tomorrow due to no extension to his existing deal being agreed so far.

The 32-year-old looked set to stay at Man United this summer after agreeing terms on a new contract, however the club are yet to sign off on that deal.

The relevant section of their release simply said: “David De Gea’s contract is due to run out but discussions remain open with the long-serving keeper.”

In terms of performance, De Gea enjoyed a good 2022/23 season under Erik ten Hag having scooped up the Premier League Golden Glove award.

However, some high-profile mistakes led to further questions about his future at the club.

De Gea’s ability with his feet has been cited as another reason why he may not be a good fit in Ten Hag’s system.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has completed a move to AC Milan, ending his 19-year association with Chelsea.

The midfielder, who is described in a Blues’ statement as ‘a dedicated professional and a friendly and popular person throughout Cobham’, leaves having made 155 appearances and scoring 13 goals along the way.

He’ll link up with former teammate Fikayo Tomori at the San Siro, a player who played a key role in convincing the 27-year-old to trade London for Milan.

Darren Bent has named five players West Ham should look to spend the Declan Rice transfer fee on this summer.

The Hammers are set to receive a £100million windfall from selling their captain to Arsenal, with David Moyes in need of that cash to help strengthen his squad ahead of their Premier League and Europa League campaigns.

Bent suggested how the east London club can put that those millions to good use when Rice has finally gone – this is what he said:

“This first one, I don’t think they’ll be able to get him, but Kalvin Phillips. Unless Man City are telling him he’s not going to play, I don’t think he’d go. But signing him on loan would be good for West Ham.

“James Ward-Prowse. I think that would be perfect – Rice goes, he comes in. It won’t be that difficult to get him because Southampton have been relegated so they will need money.

“I’ve also gone for Jack Harrison from Leeds. Very good player. I know they’ve got Bowen and Benrahma, but I think he’d help. You need depth and competition in those forward areas.

“And Harvey Barnes from Leicester. Also relegated, and I believe he can get better.

“I reckon you could get all those players for around £35m each – so let’s call that £140m. That’s the Declan Rice money plus some of what their budget would have been anyway, and these are all proven Premier League players.

“And then the last one is Wilfried Zaha on a free transfer. I’ve said that would be a sideways step for him, and it would be. West Ham are in Europe, but they almost got relegated from the Premier League last season. Crystal Palace finished above them.

“So it would be a sideways step for Wilf, but West Ham do offer European football, which is what he wants.

“But Ward-Prowse, Harrison and Barnes, they’re achievable signings for West Ham – you can get them.”

Cardiff have been ordered to make the last two payments to Nantes for Emiliano Sala’s transfer by football’s global governing body FIFA.

Sala died when the light aircraft he was travelling in from France crashed into the English Channel in January 2019, two days after Cardiff had announced the signing of the 28-year-old Argentinian forward from Nantes.

The French club’s claim for the first six million euros (just over £5m) of the £15million transfer fee was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last August, and Cardiff announced on Friday they had now been ordered by FIFA to pay the last two instalments of the fee as well.

Cardiff have paid the first instalment and it is understood they intend – albeit reluctantly – to now pay the remaining two.

Asked for his verdict on where Zaha could end up this summer, former Tottenham striker Darren Bent told talkSPORT on Drivetime: “Newcastle or Spurs.

“I did have West Ham in there too, but would Zaha want to leave Crystal Palace to go to West Ham? Would he see that at a step up?

“They do have Europa League football this year, they won the Europa Conference League last season, but Palace to West Ham is a bit of a sidewards step.

“I think Spurs would be quite exciting – if you get Maddison for £40m and Zaha on a free, that’s brilliant business and it makes Tottenham stronger.

“Liverpool don’t need him, they’ve got loads of forwards already. Man City don’t need him, they are stacked up front as well, and I wouldn’t have him at Arsenal.

“When we [Benty’s a Gooner] signed Pepe, that was that time where we should have got Zaha. He’s a bit too old now, he’s not a Mikel Arteta signing.

“Lazio are linked as well, but I don’t get it. Racism is rife there, I can’t see that happening.”

David De Gea, Roberto Firmino, Sergio Ramos, Alexis Sanchez – there are a lot of big names who are set to become free agents at midnight tonight.

But one of the names of most interest to fans is Wilfried Zaha, whose future is clouded in a thick, heavy fog of uncertainty.

The 30-year-old winger could end his almost 20-year association with his boyhood club – and surely they’ll be plenty of interest.

It is claimed a huge £200k-a-week contract – the biggest in Crystal Palace history by quite a distance – has been left unsigned by the star as he considers his future.

After trying to leave for a few years now, it appears Zaha will have his pick of destinations, whether it be another Premier League side, a European club or even one in Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea and Tottenham have been linked with an interest in England, with PSG, Marseille, Lazio, Roma and Fernerbahce other options in Europe, while reports claim he has received a ‘significant offer’ from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

Champions League football is said to be his goal, but for now it is claimed he is undecided about where to go next.

Crystal Palace fans will be hoping Zaha has a change of heart and pens that bumper contract to stay at Selhurst Park, but right now it appears more likely he will move.

The question is, though, where to?

Ferran Torres has reaffirmed his commitment to Barcelona amid links with a possible move to Aston Villa.

The former Man City winger has been linked with a loan switch to Villa Park with a €25million option to buy, as Unai Emery looks to continue his makeover of the Villans squad.

Torres briefly spoke to the press earlier today during his post-season break.

“I can’t wait to continue at Barcelona,” he said.

“I’m really happy at Barca and my plan is to continue at the club.

“Listening to offers? My phone is on airplane mode and I can’t get any messages. On July 10th, I will open it.”

Levi Colwill has been offered a new long-term contract by Chelsea.

The 20-year-old defender is wanted by Brighton this summer after impressing on loan for the Seagulls last season.

Colwill spoke highly of his on-loan club at the tail end of his stay and talkSPORT understands he is still open to a permanent move to the Amex Stadium.

However, he will assess his options during pre-season, with the player keen to discuss his future and role at Chelsea with new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Man City chief executive Ferran Soriano has opened up over the club’s pursuit of Declan Rice and why they pulled out of the race.

It has been suggested City were never really interested in Rice, as Premier League title rivals Arsenal attempt to sign him, but that appears not to be the case.

City’s interest was genuine, but as the bidding began to reach north of £100million, City decided they weren’t prepared to pay that much money for the England international.

Soriano said: “If you look at what we did at the start of this project, there was a need for a lot of changes and investment – but not anymore.

“If you look at what we have done in the last five years, our level of investment in new players is well thought out.

“We are not the top net-spenders of last year or the last three or five years. We have a platform where we know what to do and we can do it with time and intelligence.

“When we don’t like a deal, we walk away and we don’t panic.”

Willian is set to leave Fulham after turning down the club’s offer of a one-year extension.

The Brazilian, whose current deal expires today, hoped to stay at Craven Cottage after a successful return to the Premier League following a spell back in his homeland.

But the Evening Standard report the Brazilian was left disappointed by the terms and Fulham are unwilling to improve their offer.

It means Willian – who turns 35 in August – is now actively pursuing other Premier League offers as he looks to extend his stay in English football.

England’s Lionesses will not be allowed to wear the OneLove armband at the Women’s World Cup this summer.

But players will be able to wear bands supporting other causes, after consultation with FIFA, who have announced plans to highlight a number of social issues and causes throughout the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Captains will be able to wear armbands corresponding to the cause being highlighted in each round of matches, or wear an armband in support of one cause for the entire tournament.

FIFA has consulted with national associations and players over its plans in a bid to avoid a repeat of the row over ‘OneLove’ armbands which dominated the opening week of the men’s World Cup in Qatar last year.

Captains of the nations involved in the ‘OneLove’ campaign, including England and Wales, were threatened with sporting sanctions starting at a yellow card if the bands were worn, because they would have been a breach of FIFA equipment regulations.

The bands were seen as a potent symbol of tolerance in a country where same-sex relationships were criminalised.

It is understood teams at the Women’s World Cup can promote other causes at team training camps if they choose to, but wearing the ‘OneLove’ band, or any other unapproved band, at a match would trigger sanctions.

The colours of FIFA’s ‘unite for inclusion’ band are not those of the rainbow or LGBT pride flag, instead, they symbolise race and heritage (red/black/green) and all gender identities and sexual orientations (pink/yellow/blue).

Alongside inclusion, the other causes being highlighted are ‘unite for indigenous peoples’, ‘unite for gender equality’, ‘unite for peace’, ‘unite for education for all’, ‘unite for zero hunger’, ‘unite for ending violence against women’ and ‘football is joy, peace, love, hope and passion’.

Speaking prior to FIFA’s announcement, England midfielder Georgia Stanway was asked about the armband situation at a press conference and said: “I think no matter what the outcome is, whether it goes our way or not, we know that we still stand for exactly the same thing.

“If we can or we can’t wear the armband we know that we wanted to and we’ll stand by the fact that we wanted to. Whatever the outcome is we’ll still stand by whatever we believed in and whatever we wanted to be the resolution.”

Liverpool ace Fabio Carvalho is excited to experience a new country, a new league and more playing time after completing a season-long loan to RB Leipzig.

“As a young player, it’s a big step for me to move from England to the Bundesliga and RB Leipzig,” Carvalho told Leipzig’s website.

“My goal is to play as much as possible, in the league, the cup and especially in the Champions League.

“RB Leipzig have a reputation for giving young players these kinds of opportunities, which is why this is the perfect club for me to continue my development at.”

Inter Milan have said farewell to Milan Skriniar, with the club confirming he has departed at the end of his contract.

The 28-year-old has spent six seasons at the San Siro since arriving from Sampdoria in 2017.

He has enjoyed plenty of trophy success, too, having lifted the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia twice, the Supercoppa Italiana twice and has been runner-up in the Champions League and Europa League finals.

He leaves Inter having made 246 appearances for the Italian giants, with the Slovakia international – who has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League over the years – now set to join Paris Saint-Germain in a free transfer.

Fabio Carvalho has completed his loan switch to RB Leipzig from Liverpool.

The Bundesliga club announced the Reds attacker’s arrival with a video on social media of Carvalho looking casual in a pair of tracky bottoms and sipping a can of Red Bull as he performed some keepy-uppies in his new club’s shirt.

The 20-year-old Portuguese ace has joined Leipzig on a season-long loan, but there is no buy clause as Liverpool see the youngster as a player for the future and is rated highly by manager Jurgen Klopp.

Arsenal and director of football Edu Gaspar are cooking this summer – but Simon Jordan has warned Gooners not to get too excited.

The north London side have already signed Kai Havertz from rivals Chelsea and are set to land Declan Rice from West ham too after a drawn out pursuit.

But Jordan doubts any of their business done so far will actually help them close to gap to Premier League champions Man City.

❌ “Do Arsenal win the league with these signings next season? Probably not!”

😱 “If progress for the fans is only overturning Manchester City, they’ll be disappointed!”

Luton are on the verge of completing the signing of Mads Andersen.

talkSPORT brought you news last week of the Hatters’ interest in the Barnsley centre-back.

Andersen is into the last year of his contract at Oakwell and the 25-year-old Dane is having a medical today, with his transfer set to break the club record for the Premier League new boys.

Hakim Ziyech’s move to Saudi Arabia is OFF.

Chelsea were hoping to offload the Moroccan winger to Saudi side Al-Nassr as they look to balance the books.

The 30-year-old was in line to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East in a £8million transfer.

But the deal has collapsed after a knee problem was identified by Al-Nassr doctors in his medical.

It’s a blow for Chelsea, as well as the player, who was set to earn £9m in wages by joining the exodus of stars from European football to the Saudi Pro League.

Interestingly, that is now twice Ziyech has been denied linking up with the modern game’s two GOATS.

Ziyech was close to signing for Paris Saint-Germain in January, where he would have played alongside Lionel Messi, but that deal collapsed due to paperwork not being filed in time.

Manchester United remain in discussions with David De Gea over extending his contract, talkSPORT understands.

De Gea’s old deal expires today, officially making the Spaniard, who has interest from Saudi Arabia, a free agent.

United have held initial talks with Inter Milan over Andre Onana, but will have to sell to finance moves for a new No.1 goalkeeper and a striker after committing to paying Chelsea £55m plus add-ons for Mason Mount.

The Red Devils are open to offers for a number of stars including Fred, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.

De Gea initially agreed terms on a new contract which would have seen him take a big pay cut but the deal was never signed off by the United hierarchy.

Champions League finalist Onana is understood to be open to a move to Old Trafford having played under manager Erik Ten Hag at Ajax.

The uncertainty over De Gea has seen United block Tom Heaton from joining Premier League new-boys Luton, who are now advancing their interest in Asmir Begovic.

England midfielder Mount will undergo a medical next week before signing a five-year-contract.

talkSPORT understands West Ham are set to make a move for Norwich defender Max Aarons.

The 23-year-old full-back has already confirmed to talkSPORT he’s leaving Carrow Road this summer after their 13th place finish in the Championship last season.

Aarons signed a five-year contract with the Canaries in 2019, which still has a year left to run.

The young defender has been with Norwich since he was 16, but he is now ready to leave and refresh his career – with West Ham keen.

Aarons is currently on international duty with England’s Under-21s and is preparing for their European U21 Championship quarter-final against Portugal on Sunday – LIVE on talkSPORT 2.

Liverpool are in advanced talks with RB Leipzig over a move for attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, talkSPORT understands.

The Reds’ interest is genuine, with talks at a crucial stage due to a clause in his contract that is due to expire today.

The Hungary international captain is keen to leave the German club and join the Reds, and his contract features a release clause that means he can be snapped up for around £60million.

Liverpool need to move quickly to get a deal done before then and it is understood talks are ongoing with the clubs still trying to agree on a final price for the 22-year-old, who got ten goals and 13 assists for Leipzig last season.

Sources have told talkSPORT Newcastle are NOT competing with Liverpool for Szoboszlai.

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has hinted that he has made a decision over his future.

The 21-year-old has posted “it is time” in a cryptic message on social media.

The USA forward remains under contract at Arsenal through to 2025 but he is set to leave this summer in search of regular gametime.
