Everton have announced the signing of Arnaut Danjuma on a season-long loan from Villarreal.
The 26-year-old spent the past six months with Tottenham, a year on from making the semi-finals of the Champions League with his parent club.
A Netherlands international who has also played for Bournemouth, Danjuma has one goal in 23 Premier League appearances.
That’s all for today’s football live blog, marked out by one former Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi, and potentially the soon to depart Kylian Mbappe.
There will undoubtedly be more twists and turns in the transfer market tomorrow, while things are getting interesting on-pitch as pre-season hots up.
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has declined to rule out Rasmus Hojlund moving to Manchester United.
The Danish striker has been linked with the Red Devils and emerged as a top target due to gigantic price tags for Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
After registering an impressive assist in a 5-0 pre-season win, Gasperini was asked about the striker’s future and replied: “Hojlund or [Giorgio] Scalvini? I’d rather not lose either of them. Atalanta can hardly refuse certain offers, and this is the big difference with the big clubs.”
Romelu Lukaku has turned down Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal for the third time according to reports from Italy.
The Chelsea striker spent last season on-loan at Inter Milan and it appears neither the Blues nor the Belgian want him to return to Stamford Bridge.
After months of negotiations with Inter, Juventus have since stepped into the race for Lukaku’s signature, and he is keen to join the Turin side rather than moving to the Middle East.
West Ham are attempting an audacious move for Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka.
That’s according to Sport1 in Germany, who claim the Hammers are the latest team to take a look at the Germany regular.
The 2020 European treble-winner is keen to stay and fight for his place, though, ahead of Euro 2024 in his home country.
Former Manchester United and Newcastle striker Giuseppe Rossi has announced his retirement at the age of 36.
The 30-time capped Italy international had been playing back in his home country for Serie C side SPAL.
Rossi produced his best football at Villarreal between 2007 and 2013, becoming one of LaLiga’s most lethal strikers during an injury-hit career.
Now those injuries have taken their toll, and Rossi thanked his employers, fans and family in an emotional Instagram post.
