Former Kansas State quarterback Adrian Martinez capped a brilliant first season as a professional by leading the Birmingham Stallions to a 25-0 win over the San Antonio Brahmas on Sunday, June 16, in the UFL championship game.
Martinez, who was also named UFL Most Valuable Player, won UFL championship game MVP honors after going 13-for-23 passing for 98 yards and 1 touchdown while rushing for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns.
In seven regular-season games in 2024, Martinez went 6-1 and threw for 1,748 yards, 15 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while rushing for a league-leading 528 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 9.7 yards per carry also led the UFL.
Before playing in the UFL, Martinez was cut by the Detroit Lions in training camp before the 2023 season. He started his college career at Nebraska, where he started 38 games over four seasons from 2018 to 2021.
Martinez played his final year at Kansas State in 2022, going 6-3 in nine starts while throwing for 1,261 yards, 6 touchdowns and 1 interception while rushing for 627 yards and 10 touchdowns.
