France take on the USA in their first Group A fixture at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the outcome of the match just might determine who finishes atop the group.

It is no secret that the senior France and USA teams fell short this summer at Euro 2024 and Copa America 2024 respectively. Despite their underwhelming performances, though, their U-23 squads now have the chance to bring some international glory back home at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Both sides were sorted into Group A, along with Guinea and New Zealand, and will want to make a statement in their opening match of the tournament. Although France are the favorites to win the gold medal, they first must perform in the group stage against a USA squad full of exciting, young talent.

France are the favorites heading into the 2024 Paris Olympics, and it all starts with their manager, Thierry Henry. The Arsenal legend is hoping to lead Les Bleus to just their second ever gold medal. With Alexandre Lacazette and Jean-Philippe Mateta up top, along with Manu Kone in the midfield, France have plenty of experience on the pitch to balance the youthful talent of players like Michael Olise and Castello Lukeba.

Unlike Henry, Marko Mitrovic opted to bring an experienced backline to the Paris Olympics, selecting Walker Zimmerman and Miles Robinson to his squad. In front of the veteran pairing will be plenty of exciting players to watch, including Tanner Tessmann in the midfield, who is coming off a career-best season for Venezia. Duncan McGuire, meanwhile, already has eight goals this year for Orlando City, and brings a confidence in front of goal that the Stars and Stripes will need against France.
