Ontario Unveils New Sports Complex: A Game Changer for the Inland Empire
ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) — On Monday, Ontario marked the beginning of construction on a state-of-the-art sports and recreational hub designed to elevate athleticism in the Inland Empire.
A Vision Becoming Reality
“This isn’t merely a dream project; it’s where aspirations turn into reality,” remarked Mayor Paul Leon.
The Ontario Sports Empire Complex: An Overview
The expansive 190-acre Ontario Sports Empire Complex is set to be equipped with first-rate athletic facilities, numerous fields catering to youth sports, and a professional baseball stadium. These features position it as a premier destination for both local residents and visitors from afar.
A Unique Addition to National Landscape
Jason Clement, CEO of the Sports Facilities Companies, emphasized during the groundbreaking that opportunities like this are unmatched elsewhere in the United States. “The design showcased here signifies a level of excellence that doesn’t exist anywhere else in our country,” he stated confidently.
An Exciting Partnership with Professional Baseball
The city has entered into an agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ single-A affiliate to make its home at this newly constructed facility starting in 2026. The forthcoming $100 million stadium is anticipated to serve as an incredible venue for young talent development.
Building Futures For Young Athletes
“Our collaboration supports not just our team but also allows us to witness young players initiating their professional journeys right here in Ontario,” expressed Matt McGrath, Director of Player Development at the Dodgers.
A Strong Support System for Emerging Talent
Ron Cey, famed LA Dodgers player and co-MVP of the World Series in 1981, spoke passionately about how minor league systems play a critical role in crafting athletes’ skills. He noted that “the minor leagues are essential for young players; they provide them opportunities against increasingly competitive teams as they ascend their careers.”
An Upcoming Move That Will Make History
The Quakes currently represent Anaheim’s single-A team based out of Rancho Cucamonga but will transition northward once their contract concludes next year. This shift makes way for fresh prospects within this vibrant community atmosphere.
Join The Naming Campaign!
“We are excitedly launching namesake initiatives,” stated Brent Miles, President of Ontario Professional Baseball. “We encourage creativity and invite fans to contribute ideas—who knows? You might just name our future team!”
Projected Economic Impact and Community Engagement
When fully operational by fall 2026, it is estimated that Ontario Sports Empire will attract around 1.2 million guests annually while generating approximately $70 million worth of economic activity within local markets—supporting nearly 700 jobs effectively transforming this area into an epicenter for sports enthusiasts.
