Ghana international Inaki Williams has won the award for the 2023/24 Laliga African Player of the Season, succeeding Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze had an impressive campaign with Villarreal last season, registering 13 goals and eleven assists in 50 appearances for the club to help them to a fifth-place finish in the Laliga.
Following his performances, he was awarded the Laliga African Player of the Season. However, after his impressive campaign with the Yellow Submarine, Chukwueze left for former Serie A champions AC Milan.
The penultimate round of games of the Laliga season were played last weekend, and following that, a new African player of the season has been named. Ghanaian attacker Williams was voted as the new Laliga African Player of the Season. The award was presented to him at the Estadio San Mames on Monday.
Williams has had a decent campaign with Atletic Bilbao. The 29-year-old forward has registered 12 goals and three assists in 34 appearances for his side.
Williams just switched nationality to Ghana two years ago, and he has made 17 appearances for the Black Stars since then. He was also at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Coincidentally he plays in the same team with his younger brother Nico Williams, who plays for Spain.
