As far as birthdays go, celebrations don’t get much better than making your senior debut for Manchester United – just ask Dan Gore.
The young midfielder, who turned 19 on Tuesday, came on in the second half of our 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
On the hour mark, Gore slotted in alongside Casemiro for the remainder of the game in what he described as a ‘surreal’ feeling.
“It tops the list of birthdays, it was truly a special moment,” he told MUTV at full-time.
“I don’t think words can describe that feeling, seeing the fans, it is everything you’ve dreamed of, coming true.
“It means everything [to make your debut], growing up as a United fan [along with] my whole family, it means a lot to them and they were all here supporting me.”
Our Academy prospect believes playing in and around the first-teamers has helped raise his game since pre-season.
“I think being around world-class players, day in and day out, has really helped me improve my game a lot,” he told club media.
“You grow up watching these players, so to play with them… you watch them on TV winning the Champions League, it is actually surreal.”
After Tuesday night’s memorable cameo, Gore now hopes for more first-team opportunities in the future, if he can keep impressing Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff.
“That is the aim,” he said. “But it happens in training.
“You have to work hard every day in training and then, hopefully, the opportunities come your way.”
