A decade back, the Serbian tennis star was nowhere close to the G.O.A.T. debate as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were the two dominant forces on the ATP Tour. They further outclassed almost every other player to cement their positions in the top echelons of the Grand Slam tally. Novak Djokovic, on the other hand, only had a few major titles in his bag and he was just another top-10 player in the men’s circuit.
Later, as he ascended the ladders to achieve those unprecedented heights in the sporting realm, the Serb pursued greatness. Now, the Nole has finally pulled off a historic feat after clinching the Rolland Garros. In the process, Djokovic (23) has outclassed Federer (20) and Nadal (22) in terms of major titles.
Speaking about his remarkable journey, Jimmy Connors hailed Djokovic in the recent episode of the Advantage Connors podcast. He said, “Just the two of us, Brett and also on the podcast said, you know, back, you know, 10 – 12 years ago, the, you know, everybody the leader at the time was was Federer, you know, with the most grand slams, and then followed by Nadal, and, you know, Djoker back 10 years ago had won Grand Slam.”

Meanwhile, the former American tennis player made a German superhighway reference, ‘Autobahn’ to indicate how Djokovic shattered Federer and Nadal’s enviable records. He added, “And now all of a sudden, boom, I mean, you know, he’s, he’s on the Autobahn passing these guys now, you know, by, you know, the greatest of all time and all this and who’s the one still out there playing and? It’s Djoker and, and I look at that, and I see somebody who’s willing, you know, to do whatever it takes to continue to play at such a high level.”
