Heung-Min Son continued his outrageous form against Man City with a stunning early goal – but then had the misfortune of putting the ball in his own net.

It was a thrilling start at the Etihad as Tottenham took on the Premier League champions down nine key players.

True to his words, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou’s side weren’t afraid to play their way out of trouble.

Man City’s press early on had the north Londoners smothered but Spanish winger Bryan Gil managed to kick-start a counter attack with just six minutes gone.

He found Dejan Kulusevski who, in-turn, played in captain Son who was able to run through on goal and power the ball beyond Ederson, sending the visiting fans wild.

The strike means the South Korean is the first ever player to score away against four reigning champions.

Having already netted against Leicester, Chelsea, and Liverpool his goal was the cherry on top – and his eighth goal against Man City in total.

But the joy didn’t last long for those in the Spurs camp, and especially Son.

Man City earnt a free-kick on the right and Julian Alvarez’s superb cross forced the forward into action.

Sadly for Spurs, the 30-year-old looped the ball past Guglielmo Vicario with his knee as Tottenham held the lead for just three minutes.

And with the own goal, he Son created more history becoming just the second player ever to get a goal and an own goal in the opening ten minutes of a game.

The first was Gareth Barry during his time at Aston Villa in a 4-3 defeat to Charlton Athletic in May 1999.

The clash then turned in City’s favour just after the half-hour mark as Phil Foden slotted the ball home from close range to put Pep Guardiola’s men 2-1 up.
