Manchester United Women play at Old Trafford this weekend in an eagerly-anticipated Manchester derby clash.
Sunday’s game is set to be a massive occasion in the WSL season as only two points separate the two sides in the table, with United third on 12 points and City sixth on 10 points.
History also awaits both sets of players, as this is the first time the fixture has been held at the Theatre of Dreams.

WHAT’S THE TEAM NEWS?
There are no fresh injury concerns for Marc Skinner, who guided the Reds to big wins over West Ham and Everton recently.
Emma Watson, Gabby George and Jessica Simpson remain long-term absentees, while Aoife Mannion is likely to be unavailable as the centre-back continues her recovery.
For the visitors, former Red Alex Greenwood is expected to return after missing City’s defeat at Brighton last time out with a head injury.
Demi Stokes could feature for the first time this season – the England international was named in a matchday squad for the first time in 2023/24 last week.
FORM GUIDE
United have recorded three victories and one draw across all competitions in our last four games, while aside from Chelsea, we remain the only team yet to taste defeat in the WSL this campaign.
Last week, we put five goals past West Ham in the top flight before a comprehensive 7-0 victory over the Toffees in the Continental League Cup.
City have suffered back-to-back defeats in the league to Brighton and Arsenal, however they did edge out Liverpool in a seven-goal League Cup thriller in between those games.
As previously mentioned, the blues currently occupy sixth place in the WSL, with three victories, two defeats and one draw from six matches.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
This fixture last season was filled with drama, bookended by a fast start and a late winner for United. Hayley Ladd opened the scoring after only two minutes with a fantastic strike from the edge of the area, before City’s goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck was sent off minutes before half-time for a flying challenge on Nikita Parris.
Flippa Angeldal equalised for the visitors in the second-half, and the points looked like they were going to be shared as the game entered the closing stages. However, Lucia Garcia’s close-range strike in stoppage time secured a dramatic victory.
United’s trip to the Etihad Stadium in 2022/23 ended in a 1-1 draw, after Leah Galton’s first-half strike was cancelled out by Laura Coombs goal on 58 minutes.
