India keep T20 series alive with seven-wicket win over West Indies

Suryakumar Yadav became the second-fastest player to hit 100 T20I sixes as India beat West Indies to keep the series alive.

He blasted 83 runs off just 44 balls to equal Chris Gayle’s record as India won by seven wickets and 13 balls remaining on Tuesday at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Yadav and Tilak Varma made a good partnership, with the latter 49 not out off 37 balls to reach their target in 17.5 overs, following debutant Yashavi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill’s efforts of one and six runs respectively.

West Indies lead the series 2-1, and India will need to win Saturday’s fourth match in Florida if they are to take the series.

West Indies opener Evin Lewis currently holds the record for fastest to 100 T20I sixes, achieving the feat in 48 innings, as opposed to Yadav and fellow West Indies player Gayle who both did it in 49 innings.
