After report emerged that the date and venue of India vs Pakistan clash in ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 will be changed, BCCI secretary Jay Shah spoke on the matter after meeting the heads of the state association on Thursday (July 27). Shah informed the press that venue change for the India vs Pakistan match will not happen but the date of the match will be changed. Shah confirmed that there will be some changes made in the schedule in the coming 2 to 3 days time.

Three ICC board members had reached out to BCCI for a change is schedule. Earlier, it was reported that because India vs Pakistan match fell on the same date as first day of Navratri in Ahmedabad, security agencies had advised BCCI to make changes in the itinerary. The Indo-Pak clash was earlier scheduled for October 15 at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

The date change will create problems for those fans who have already booked flight tickets for Ahmedabad and made hotel reservations in the city. It was earlier reported that BCCI could pre-pone the game by a day on October 14, which is a Saturday, start of the weekend. Shah has confirmed that date of the the marquee contest, along with some other matches, will be changed. The fans who had booked tickets for October 15 must find themselves in a fix.
Not to forget, India vs Pakistan contest is among the biggest clashes in sports, not just cricket. India have played Pakistan seven times in the tournament, winning on all the occasions. Shah, during his press conference, did not say whether among the 3 members who requested for the change in schedule, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also there.
