New developments in the IROC reunion plans

Back in the day, the International Race of Champions (IROC) was where the rubber met the road, bringing together the crème de la crème of drivers from all corners of the racing world to duke it out in 12 equally tuned stock cars. From 1973 to 2006, this arena was the battleground for racing royalty, with names like Dale Earnhardt, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Al Unser Jr, A.J. Foyt, and Mario Andretti lighting up the track in their Chevy Camaros, Pontiac Firebirds, and Dodge Avengers.

Ray Evernham is all set to turn back the clock and bring the golden era of IROC racing back to life, this time with a classic twist

Chewing the fat with SiriusXM Radio, Evernham let slip a few tidbits about grand comeback of IROC’s historic wheels hitting the asphalt once again. He kept the cards close to his chest about the where and who, but it’s clear they’re gearing up for a big splash sooner rather than later.

Evernham, painting the picture of his dream, mentioned, “Rob Kauffman and I are both racers, and we both really love motorsports and history. So, we had an opportunity to get this IROC brand. And the plan right now is to put on a vintage type of race event reunion here before the end of the year, we’re really, really early in the planning stages.”
