After the Bucks shocked the sports world by motioning to acquire Damian Lillard from the Trail Blazers, the seven-time All-Star is set to take part in his first official action when Milwaukee hosts Philadelphia to open the 2023-24 season.

Fittingly, Lillard and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo begin a promising partnership against an Eastern Conference rival in the 76ers, who will look to stay among the class of the East with reigning MVP Joel Embiid leading the charge.

Lillard, who is coming off one of the best statistical seasons of his career, is ready to make his mark in Milwaukee after spending the first 11 seasons of his career in Portland

Is Damian Lillard playing tonight?

Milwaukee has yet to submit an injury report for Thursday’s game, but Lillard is expected to play.

Lillard suited up for three of the Bucks’ five preseason games, putting up 19 points (on 6-of-14 shooting) in 27 minutes in their preseason finale against the Grizzlies. Entering the season, Lillard came in at 13th on The Sporting News’ list of top 30 NBA players, as voted by 12 members of our global staff.

The Bucks open the season with a three-game homestand against teams that qualified for the Playoffs last season. Milwaukee fans will get to see plenty of Lillard to open the year as the team plays for of its first five games at home.
