For the third knockout game in a row, the Three Lions had to come from behind to secure victory following Xavi Simons’ seventh-minute stunner.

A controversial penalty from Harry Kane shortly afterwards levelled the game up, before Watkins sealed his place in England folklore with a 90th-minute winner.

On as a second-half substitute for Kane, the Aston Villa striker rifled into the bottom left corner from an acute angle to spark wild scenes inside Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park.

And it wasn’t just the England players and fans in Germany that reacted wildly, with O’Hara and Cundy left stunned.

Former Chelsea defender Cundy immediately reacted by grabbing the ex-Tottenham midfielder’s left wrist

As they went from jumping in the air to celebrating on the sofa, Cundy was still seen grabbing O’Hara’s wrist, leading the latter to jokingly state: “Get off me!”

Later on in talkSPORT’s live watchalong of the Euro 2024 clash, O’Hara noticed the interface on his watch was frozen.

He told Cundy: “You’ve broke my watch? What have you done?”

To which a confused Cundy replied: “What’s happened? What have I done?”

But O’Hara quickly forgave his colleague, as he insisted: “Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out.”

O’Hara, who has been critical of boss Gareth Southgate this tournament, then lauded him for his second half substitutions against Netherlands.

It was Cole Palmer, who replaced Phil Foden, who delivered the assist for fellow substitute Watkins in a double change.

He remarked: “Southgate, you legend! You made the decision, you were proactive and it’s happened for you.

“There you go my son, that’s what we’ve been asking for, we’ve asked for it, you delivered, get in you beauty.

“You beauty Southgate! That’s what happens when you’re proactive, it’s unbelievable.”
