The Utah Jazz are going back to the past with their uniform combinations for the 2024-25 season.
In a hype video released by the club Wednesday, it was revealed the Jazz will wear jerseys inspired by their look in the 1990s.

This marks the second time in three years that the Jazz have overhauled their on-court look. Prior to the 2022-23 season, they shifted away from purple as a primary color in favor of white and yellow.
Speaking to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez about the shift back to a purple-and-white dominant scheme, Jazz governor Ryan Smith explained they wanted to find a way to make this look their own as more teams have added purple in recent years.
“We know the purple pops,” Smith said. “It’s how a lot of people know us. It’s not simple because you have a couple other teams that have a couple other variations of purple. Making this our own has been what we’ve been working on.”
Smith also cited the use of the mountain logo as essential because it is “absolutely part of who we are” because there are “mountains that sit within 15 miles of no matter where you live” in Utah.
Lopez noted the yellow and white jerseys will still be used for the first half of the 2024-25 season until the new ones are ready, and the team anticipates it will take two years to completely convert its color schemes and uniforms.
These new jerseys are modeled after the look the Jazz first adopted in 1996-97 as part of the NBA’s 50th anniversary season. They kept the mountain jerseys through the 2003-04 season.
The greatest period of success in Jazz history came during the period with the mountain look. They made back-to-back appearances in the NBA Finals in 1997 and ’98, losing to the Chicago Bulls both times.
Utah will be hoping to have that type of good luck next season by bringing the look back. The Jazz are coming off back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 2013-14 to 2015-16.
