Joe Scally didn’t start Friday’s match against Mainz, but did come off the bench and make a major impact in a comeback draw for Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Scally came off the bench and scored the equalizing goal for Gladback in a 2-2 Bundesliga draw with Mainz. The U.S. men’s national team defender now heads into international duty off the back of his second senior goal for the German side.
The 20-year-old Scally came off the bench in the 79th minute with Gladbach trailing 2-1 on home soil. With the hosts seeking a tying goal late, Scally came to the rescue with a sensational right-footed finish.
Scally’s looping right-footed shot found the top-left corner, giving Marco Rose’s squad a 2-2 scoreline.

Gladbach, who sits 12th in the league table, will return to action on Oct. 22 against Cologne.
