Kansas City police are unable to confirm rumours of fans apprehending an alleged suspect after gunfire caused chaos at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade.
One person has been confirmed dead and up to 22 were injured after shots were fired near Union Station in Kansas City as over a million took to the streets to celebrate the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl with three people detained by police.

Terrifying footage showed fans desperately trying to get away from the scene while another video has gone viral after two people tackled someone running out of the station.
While it had been rumoured that the man apprehended was one of the suspects, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves refused to confirm whether that was the case.
“I will say though we do have two suspects in custody,” Graves said at a press conference after the incident.
“I have heard that that fans got involved in the apprehension or the pursuit of one of the suspects.
“I cannot confirm that right now but that is something that I have heard myself.”
A viral video showed two Chiefs fans tackle an alleged suspect as they tried to run through a crowd of people.
Another two people could be seen taking something out of their possession before alerting police, who then intervened and appeared to arrest them.
The Chiefs parade was set to end at the Union Station and players were on stage when shots were heard ringing out.

Chaos broke out at the Super Bowl parade after shots were fired
Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were rushed away to safety, with the latter sending his prayers on social media shortly after.
Tragically, one person has lost their life during the incident with eight people suffering immediately life-threatening injuries.
It was confirmed by the Chiefs that all players, coaches and staff were safe, as revealed by Mayor Quinton Lucas in a press conference.
“The Chiefs noted that their players, coaches and staff are all accounted for at this point in safe,” Lucas said.
“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally,” Chiefs’ team statement said.
“Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.
“We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department.
“At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff and their families are safe and accounted for.
“We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”
