Highlights: Braisaz-Bouchet defends World Cup lead at Lenzerheide
Korean starlet Kim Gilli underlined her 1500m supremacy with a popular victory at the Short Track World Cup in Seoul.
The 19-year-old is now the undisputed queen of the distance event and despite the best efforts of USA’s Corrine Stoddard, cruised to victory from six laps out on home ice.
“I was very excited when the crowd roared. Of course, it helps me fight,” Gilli said.
The women’s 1000m final was an all-time classic with Hannah Desmet of Belgium winning a titanic tussle with Kristen Santos-Griswold and Xandra Velzeboer.
On the men’s side, Canada’s Steven Dubois won the opening 1000m but Korea’s Park Ji-won closed the gap in the overall World Cup standings with gold in the 1500m.
The pair are separated by 100 points at the top of the standings with another night of racing to go in the final World Cup of the year.
