Los Angeles Lakers 2022 second-round draft pick Max Christie has seen limited action in his first two years in the NBA, but it sounds like that will change this season.

During an appearance on Buha’s Block, Christie told The Athletic’s Jovan Buha that he’s confident he will be a key contributor this year after speaking with newly hired head coach JJ Redick.

“I think we’re on the same page with that stuff and I think we’re all in agreement that I’m gonna be a good part of the offense and defense and the rotation just in general, so I’m looking forward to that,” Christie said around the 6:25 mark.

Christie appeared in 67 games last season and averaged 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14.1 minutes of action. The Lakers re-signed him to a four-year, $32 million deal earlier this month.

While Christie is entering his third year in the NBA, he’s still just 21 years old. He has the potential to develop into a consistent source of two-way production, and the Lakers are hoping that he will take steps in that direction during the 2024-25 campaign.
