Leeds completed a stunning late turnaround against Leicester to close the gap on the Championship leaders to six points.

The Whites ran out 3-1 winners at Elland Road to claim a ninth successive league win – equalling a club a record.

They have now done the double over the Foxes for the first time since the 1994/95 season, but crucially, have seen their promotion hopes take a huge boost.

Enzo Maresca’s side dominated the majority, with Leicester made to rue a number of missed opportunities in Yorkshire.

They looked to be on their way of claiming all three points after breaking the deadlock in the 15th minute though Wout Faes’ header from a corner.

Patson Daka then thought he had doubled the visitors’ lead in the second half.

But he was adjudged to have been in an offside position, despite replays appearing to show the ball had come off of a Leeds player.

He then squandered an excellent chance when sent through one-on-one by Ricardo Pereira, but sidefooted his effort well wide.

And they were then made to pay for their poor finishing as Leeds levelled through Connor Roberts in the 80th minute.

Their comeback was sealed just moments later when Archie Gray’s strike went in off the head of Faes to send Elland Road wild.

Daniel James’ free-kick in stoppage time was then diverted in off Patrick Bamford to seal all three points.

Leeds have now closed the gap on Leicester to just six points, having at one point trailed by 12 during the match.

Sitting second in the Championship, they are also three points clear of Ipswich Town in the race for the automatic promotion spots.

Leicester have now suffered back-to-back defeats following last week’s loss to Middlesbrough.

And they know that their latest defeat is their own fault, with the Midlands side to now turn their attention to their FA Cup fifth round clash away at Bournemouth on Tuesday.
