The bout served as the co-main event of MF & DAZN: X Series 15 alongside the promotion’s women’s middleweight championship between Paige VanZant and Elle Brooke.
The 32-year-old Bell played in the NFL from 2013-2017 and 2019-2021, with his heyday occurring with the Pittsburgh Steelers over those first five years. The three-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro enjoyed three dominant seasons with the Steelers in 2014, 2016 and 2017, notably amassing 6,045 yards from scrimmage and 31 touchdowns over those years. For his career, Bell had 9,843 total yards and 51 scores.
Bell has three boxing fights to his name. He beat fellow ex-NFL star running back Adrian Peterson in an exhibition fight (fifth-round knockout) in Sept. 2022. Bell was 1-1 professionally, losing via unanimous decision to ex-MMA star Uriah Hall in Oct. 2022 and beating British YouTuber JMX via unanimous decision in March 2023.
“I’m a jack-of-all-trades,” Hamm told Jared Schwartz of The New York Post.
“It’s hard to explain to people who I am and what I do. My whole life has been around doing the things I love, and figuring out how to get paid to do it. First I do what I love, then I figure out how to get paid. That allows me to do more things that I love. It can sometimes be really challenging, and other times it seems easy. This is one of those times it feels easy.”
Bell will now face the victor of the quarterfinal bout between Love Island’s Jake Cornish and Nigerian high jumper Mike Edwards.
